The Yogi Government announced that Uttar Pradesh is proposed to get 109 new National Highways of which Union Ministry of Surface Transport has agreed in principle to construct 48 national highways.
Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, who also holds PWD Ministry, said that Uttar Pradesh has less number of National Highways as compared to State Highways. The Uttar Pradesh government is in touch with Union Surface Transport Ministry and officers of both the departments meet on 12th of every month to access the progress.
Answering a question of Uma Shankar (SP) he said that if we can have a better network of national highways across UP it would strength transportation corridor.
Pot-hole free road: Answering another question by Nitin Agarwal (SP) the minister said that government is committed to make all road pot-hole free. We need to make 1,21,000 km long road pothole free of which work on 72066 km long road has been completed.
Piped water: Government announced that it is committed to provide piped drinking water facilities to all the local bodies in the state by providing 135 liter water per day per person.
While replying to a question of Sanjay garg (SP) State Urban development minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said that all the 16 nagar nigams, 198 nagar Palika and 419 of the total 438 nagar panchayats have piped drinking water supply. Of the remaining 19 Nagar panchayats the drinking water facilities are being given through hand pumps, he said.
Talking about the sewage system, the Minister said 15 Nagar Nigams, 39 Nagar Palika and 3 Nagar panchayats have sewage system in the state. He also stated that the government was seriously thinking of finding a better solution to waste management.
Sugar Mills: In another question, UP sugarcane development minister Suresh Rana said that the government has started two sugar mills in the state of the 10 closed down. He said the Pipraich sugar mill in Gorakhpur and Munderwa in Basti district have started crushing this season. The minister announced that in a phase manner all the closed down sugar mills would start crushing.
