Tibetan Supreme Spiritual Guru Dalai Lama has called both India and China to maintain and ensure peace in the region keeping aside the differences. Addressing the reporters at Hassan in Karnataka on his way to the Tibetan settlement at Bylukuppe on Wednesday he said it’s necessary for both the countries to maintain peace keeping aside differences. He also said the faceoff was temporary and border dispute will be resolved soon.
He said “the ongoing border dispute between India and China is temporary and that it may get resolved at the earliest. India needs China and China needs India. Both countries should ensure peace in the region and must move forward keeping aside differences.”“It is impossible to find solutions for differences between two countries through bullets. Only talks can resolve all the issues.
There is a lot of difference between today’s China and the China Government of 40 years ago. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, China, etc face a lot of issues and there are lots of differences of opinion. Only talks can resolve all the pending issues,”he added.
He said “the 21st century is all about peace. Every nation - including Japan, China, etc - must find solutions to the problems through talks. All religions are the same and it is possible to find a peaceful solution to all the present day challenges.” “Buddha’s teachings can resolve several present-day crises. The foundation of Buddhism is peace. Anyone can follow it. Buddhism is a must to protect the universe from the threats of all kinds of violence,” he added.
Bylakuppe is a town in Karnataka with three settlements established by Lugsum Samdupling (in 1961) and Dickyi Larsoe (in 1969). Dalai Lama visits this settlement very often and stays there.
In 1960, the Government of Mysore (as Karnataka was called at that time) allotted nearly 3,000 acres of land at Bylakuppe in Mysore district in Karnataka and the first ever Tibetan exile settlement, Lugsung Samdupling came into existence in 1961. A few years later another settlement, Tibetan Dickey Larsoe, also called TDL, was established.
