Tamil Nadu: Fight over cellphone leaves Class VIII student from Vellore dead

Santhosh was allegedly hit in the head by his classmates | EPS

VELLORE: A class VIII schoolboy was allegedly killed by his schoolmates after a fight broke out over a cellphone on Wednesday in Vellore.

Santhosh (13), a student of Poigai Government Higher Secondary school at Labbakrishnapuram in Vellore, was missing since last night and was spotted dead in an isolated place near his school this morning, local sources said. 

Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident happened when during a fight between the school students over a cellphone,  Santhosh was hit on the head with an iron rod by his friends. He died on the spot.

The Vellore police have filed a case and investigating.
