BIHARSHARIF: The block development officers (BDOs) and circle officers (COs) in 20 blocks of
Nalanda district boycotted work in protest against the arrest of
Hilsa CO Subodh
Kumar on graft charge on Wednesday.
The state vigilance bureau sleuths arrested Kumar while accepting a bribe of Rs20,000 from one
Rinku Devi for the mutation of a plot of land. "Rinku of
Nagarnausha in Nalanda district had lodged a complaint against the
CO a few days ago. We raided the CO office today and found currency notes worth Rs20,000 marked by us from his possession," vigilance DSP Gopal Paswan said.
The employees of Hilsa block office demonstrated against the CO's arrest for an hour and accused Rinku of hatching a conspiracy against him. As the news of Kumar's arrest spread, all the block officers and employees boycotted work and gathered at the collectorate in Biharsharif to demand Kumar's immediate release and withdrawal of case against him. They threatened to go on indefinite strike if their demands were not met.
