Market Now: Emami, HUL drag Nifty FMCG index down

NEW DELHI: FMCG stocks Emami (down 0.94 per cent), Hindustan Unilever (down 0.93 per cent) and Jubilant Foodworks (down 0.86 per cent) declined up to 1 per cent in afternoon trade on Thursday, dragging the Nifty FMCG index down.

The Nifty FMCG index was trading 0.32 per cent down at 26,644 around 01:10 pm (IST).

Shares of ITC (down 0.44 per cent), Godrej Industries (down 0.43 per cent), Tata Global Beverages (down 0.43 per cent), Colgate-Palmolive (India) (down 0.14 per cent) and Britannia Industries (down 0.13 per cent) also declined in the FMCG index.

However, shares of GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (up 2.12 per cent), United Spirits (up 0.95 per cent), Godrej Consumer Products (up 0.50 per cent) and Marico (up 0.24 per cent) were trading up around that time.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 3 points at 10,447, while the BSE Sensex was 5 points down at 33,772.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 26 were trading in the green, while 24 were in the red.

Shares of Idea Cellular, Punjab National Bank, Hindalco Industries, Steel Authority of India (SAIL), State Bank of India, Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL), DLF, ICICI Bank, Sun TV, Vedanta Ltd, Bank of Baroda and Ashok Leyland were among the most traded stocks in the National Stock Exchange.

Larsen & Toubro, HCL Technologies, Tata Steel, Hero MotoCorp, Hindalco and Cipla were trading as the top gainers of the Nifty50 index.
