All 49 village offices in the district go online

The Wayanad district administration has set a model in online management of digitised land records and online disposal of mutation (pokuvaravu) requests.

“The basic tax register of all villages in the district have been digitised and made online. Any transaction of land, once it gets registered at the registrar office, will be automatically informed to the village officer concerned through the Revenue Land Information System (ReLIS) portal,” Revenue Department sources said.

Previous transactions

The village officer can process the request and allow transfer of registry (mutation). After sanctioning the mutation, a copy of an online generated ‘thandaper’ account will be issued to the landholder, which clearly describes the details of land, including survey number and area. Previous transactions of land records have updated on the portal, the sources said.

The online pokkuvaravu is being implemented in all the 49 village offices in the district and land tax is also collected online in those village offices, a first in the State, the sources claimed.

A portal enabling online payment of land tax has been developed and started functioning in all villages in the district.

“A Web-based application for updating the sketch of landholdings is in progress,” the sources said, adding that once the application goes on stream, the entire process of land record management would be in digital format.

“Wayanad is first in online land tax collection in the State. A sum of ₹1,27,28,743 was collected as land tax in the district so far, which is 81.32 % of the total online collection received in the State,” the sources added.

“Automation of services and making the system online will help reduce corruption and make life easier for the common man,” District Collector S. Suhas, who initiated the project, said.

The administration will organise taluk-level workshops to sensitise the public to various online services being provided by the department.

The workshop for Mananthavady taluk will be held at the Municipal town hall at 10 a.m. on Thursday. The workshops for Vythiri and Sulthan Bathery will be held on Friday and Saturday.
