The company's net revenue increased 6% from a year earlier to $1.42 billion in the quarter ended October 27, NetApp said in a statement on November 15.
NetApp, a US data storage company, witnessed a three-fold growth in the Asia-Pacific region including India in its solidstate flash segment.

The company, which counts the US, Germany and the UK as its top three markets, sees India among its top 10 markets with the flash segment driving growth. NetApp sees major demand from finance, automotive energies, manufacturing, government and surveillance.

"With the boom of local providers in the region, technology access has accelerated," Rick Scurfield, president of NetApp APAC, told ET. "We are now seeing a lot of migration towards the hybrid-cloud here, which is becoming quite strong. Customers are now looking to leverage using the cloud technology for some of the workloads."

On the technology front, NetApp has been focusing on data fabric technology, a software approach for data movement and management across cloud and onpremises. "Over the years, it has evolved and the realisation of going from concept to monetisation of that concept is happening real time now," said Scurfield.

He said Japan and Australia are already adopting the technology and India is still at a nascent stage of this evolution and is just starting to use the ecosystem.

In India, NetApp is working with various state governments for smart city projects, apart from finance. The company is working on an Aadhaar-based project with the government. It also has projects with the Indian Space Research Organisation and Oil & Natural Gas Corp.

NetApp opened a development centre in Bengaluru in January which now houses almost 2,000 engineers and is the largest for its global markets. The company's net revenue increased 6% from a year earlier to $1.42 billion in the quarter ended October 27, NetApp said in a statement on November 15.
