HYDERABAD: In a huge relief to the contract employees working in Kasturiba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs), the High Court has recently directed the AP and Telangana governments to continue the services of the petitioner employees in the two states if there are no remarks against them. Further, it has directed the two states to consider the petitioners’ cases for regularisation if they are found fit to discharge their work.

“If any future vacancies arise and recruitment takes place, the posts should be filled with female staff to the extent possible. The said recruitment should be in accordance with the guidelines issued in 2012-13 subject to fulfilment of the qualifications mentioned there and the rule of reservation applicable to the posts.” Justice A Ramalingeswara Rao passed these directions on a batch of petitions filed by G Vidyavathi Devi and several others from both the states challenging the governments’ proposals to recruit non-teaching staff to the detriment of the petitioners.
