FEROZPUR: Ferozepur deputy commissioner-cum-district magistrate Ramvir on Wednesday dismissed a patwari for tampering with government record, dereliction of duty, misuse of office and corruption.

Patwari Sukhjinder Singh was posted at Nizamdin Wala patwar circle in Zira tehsil of Ferozepur district. Darshan Singh, a resident of Nizamwala, complained in 2013 that Sukhjinder had prepared a fake mutation of 74 kanal (about 9 acres) of the central government land in the village in the name of Lakhwinder Singh.

The matter was probed by Zira sub-divisional magistrate who observed that the land had been transferred in the name of Lakhwinder by faking the signatures of the officials concerned. The jambandi (consolidation) of the land was also done in 2010-2011 by Sukhjinder.
