The Met Department says that due to a wavy type atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, cloudy skies and showery conditions are expected further.

Issuing a communique, the Department states that showers will occur at times in the Northern, North-central, Eastern, Southern and Uva provinces and Matale district.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places elsewhere particularly after 2 pm.

Moreover, fairly heavy falls above 75mm can be expected at some places in Eastern, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and Uva provinces and in the Kalutara district while fairly strong gusty wind of 50 kmph can be expected in the North-central and Central province and Hambantota, Monaragala and Matara districts.

The Met Department requests the general public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
