A group of eight students from GITAM FinTech Academy will be visiting NGEE Ann Polytechnic in Singapore in the last week of December as part of the student exchange programme aimed at strengthening the FinTech eco system in the country. The students will be visiting top firms like Oracle and JP Morgan during the visit, study the emerging fields of block chain technology and how it could be replicated in the supply chain model in India, according to Leben Johnson, coordinator of FinTech Academy GITAM.

Addressing the media here on Wednesday, he said FinTech was going to be the backbone for financial services across the globe and open up vast opportunities for students.

FinTech Academy of GITAM University had signed an MoU with Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore in the areas of faculty and student exchange programme recently.

As part of the student exchange programme, 16 students from NGEE Ann Polytechnic in Singapore will visit the city in March next year. A three-member team from the Singapore institute was in the city to interact with students and visit the Fintech Valley-Vizag, an initiative of the State government.

“Our institute has a strong overseas immersion programme. We have had limited interaction with India till now. This partnership will open up a great scope for knowledge exchange. We had a great interaction with the team at FinTech Valley here and expect to see strong synergies being built over the future,” said Ray Ng Tze Thim, assistant director of International Office, NGEE. He said the Singapore government has allotted 225 million dollars for supporting starts in FinTech over the five years.

“AP government has also signed an MoU with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) to explore projects of mutual interest on innovative technologies such Blockchain technology and collaborate on the development of education programmes on FinTech,” he added.
