Top police officers from Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu held a meeting at the Tamizhagam guest house here on Wednesday.

Sources said that the meeting was attended by ADGP, Special Task Force, Sandeep Rai Rathore; Inspector-General of Police (West Zone), A. Pari; and SPs Pa. Moorthy (Coimbatore), R. Sivakumar (Erode) and Murali Rambha (The Nilgiris) from Tamil Nadu, who met their counterparts from Kerala and Karnataka.

“The meeting is held thrice every year, once in each State, to foster better co-ordination among all three police forces and to discuss all aspects relating to policing,” an official said.

Sources said that among other things, the officials discussed the threat posed to the security of the border districts in Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu from Maoists and radical Left-wing groups.

Officials said that other aspects, including stepping up checks at border checkposts and streamlining movement of tourists between borders, were also discussed.
