The Craig Charles Funk And Soul Club 5 Compilation (Freestyle)

Graham Clark, Features Writer
You might know Craig from Coronation Street but over the last 15 years he has presented a primetime slot on BBC Radio 6 playing funk and soul tracks.
On this new compilation he has brought together "the baddest, most boom bap beats, the deepest funk, the sassiest soul and gorgeous grooves to put a shake in your shimmy and a wiggle in your walk".

The compilation starts off with Super Freak by The Traffic. Many might remember the track from MC Hammer and You Can't Touch This.
The Andy Tolman Cartel shine on the instrumental You What! which brings to mind The Brand New Heavies.
Charles Bradley spent most of his career being a James Brown impersonator. He didn't get to record his debut album until he was 62 but included here is Change For The World.
There are some up to date tracks too such as Back in Business by Lack of Afro who team up with Wax and Herbal T.
Here's looking to Volume 6.
I give the album 4 out of 5
