An Arkansas man was arrested Saturday after police said they recovered multiple narcotics in his stolen vehicle following a foot chase.

Daniel Lee Nelson of Bonanza was arrested at around 7:30 p.m. Saturday and charged on suspicion of possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance under two grams, possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance under 4 ounces, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm by certain persons, theft by receiving $1,000 or greater and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms stemming from his arrest. He was additionally charged on two failure to appear warrants and warrants for failure to pay a fine, a parole violation, absconding and an ADC commitment hold.

Nelson remained in custody Tuesday in lieu of a $30,000.01 bond. He is set to appear in Sebastian County District Court today.

According to the offense report, Fort Smith police officer Lauren Hendricks saw a white Ford F150 with one headlight out at approximately 7:30 p.m. Saturday on Zero Street. Hendricks conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at Lil Dude Bar, 1800 S. Zero St.

Hendricks told the driver, identified as Nelson, that she knows him to be a possible suspect in a vehicle theft of a white 2008 Ford F150. Nelson told Hendricks that he bought the vehicle two weeks ago from a man in Hackett.

When Hendricks tried to call another unit to the scene, Nelson fled on foot, according to a police report. The responding officers chased Nelson from the back of Lost Beach Bar, 1810 Zero St. onto Brazil Street. The report states Hendricks was running through the backyards of houses on Brazil Street to Jenny Lind Road.

Cpl. Anthony Rice with found Nelson between Brazil Street and Jacobs Avenue, where he fled again, the report states. Nelson then ran behind a residence in the 5900 block of Jenny Lind Road, where he was found and placed in handcuffs.

The license plate number on the vehicle Jones was driving came back as stolen out of Crawford County, the report states. Hendricks found a loaded Ruger 9mm, a jar of marijuana and a marijuana pipe, a set of digital scales, methamphetamine, several electronic items, jewelry, sunglasses, collector's knives and a collection of U.S. and foreign currency in the vehicle, the report states.

Nelson told Hendricks he had received the vehicle from a friend who had "disappeared." He said he took the truck and drove it in her absence. He was then transported to the Arkansas Department of Corrections without incident.

After placing Nelson into custody, Hendricks found two class rings and a camera in a backpack bearing a different name. She looked at the photos on the camera and recognized the subject, noting that the subject in the pictures and the owners of the class rings could be the potential owners of some of the items found in the truck.
