Carols warm up rainy day

With Christmas just around the corner, carols fill the air. It was an evening of Christmas music and spirit at the Indian Embassy on Monday, hosted by Indian Ambassador to Oman H E Indra Mani Pandey and his wife, Sushma Pandey.

In the backdrop of the drizzle, the audience enjoyed the carols, as various church groups from Oman performed with joy, exuding the spirit of the season. There were dance performances and song recitals by children as well as adult choirs lighting up the evening.

Addressing the audience, H E Pandey talked about the importance of celebrations and festivities - to cultivate inclusiveness among people belonging to a diverse nation such as India. “We in India celebrate our diversity and we take pride in our unity in diversity. That is where our strength lies,” said the Ambassador.

Talking about the embassy’s initiative to host the Christmas event this year, he said, “It is very important for us to understand how Christmas is celebrated and why it is celebrated, and today we have that opportunity. The best way to learn and respect other religions is by celebrating them.”
