New Delhi, Dec 20: Conmen duped Rajya Sabha MP and former Punjab Congress chief Shamsher Singh Dullo of Rs 27,000 after the politician revealed his One Time Password to them on phone.
According to reports, the politician received a phone call from a conman who told him that he was a bank manager. He told Dullo that the bank was linking his bank account to Aadhaar card and it would send an OTP to him for that. When Dullo revealed the OTP, he immediately received a message that Rs 27,000 have been withdrawn from his account.
The leader was in Delhi when the incident occurred. The caller told him that the bank was extending a special privilege by linking his bank account with his Aadhaar number. The leader said that the bank manager was criticising Aadhaar, and Dullo told him the benefits of UID.
“During the conversation, the caller said that he opposed the idea of Aadhaar-linkage. I, however, told him about its benefits. As soon as he disconnected the call, I got a message on my other number that Rs 27,000 had been withdrawn from my account. I was shocked as I hadn’t disclosed any bank details to the caller,” Dullo told TOI.
