The newly-engaged couple, who will marry in May, were pictured leaving Kensington Palace in their black Land Rover Discovery this morning. 

The invite will give Meghan a taste of royal festivities ahead of Christmas Day celebrations with the Queen at the Sandringham Estate. 

Meghan will also be joined by Kate, William and their two children Prince George and Princess Charlotte, who were also pictured on their way to the palace. 

She will also get to spend an afternoon with her in-laws as Prince Charles and his wife Camilla were also captured driving to the family lunch. 

The Queen traditionally hosts a festive lunch for her family before leaving for her private Sandringham estate, where she spend the holidays.

It is an opportunity for the monarch to catch up with more distant relations, who are not invited to join her at the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk on the 25th. 

Princess Alexandra and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent are also attending the lunch, four days before Christmas. 

Meghan's Christmas Day invite is a break away from tradition, with partners having to wait until they’re married before they are allowed to spend Christmas in Norfolk. 1

The occasion will mark the first time the US actress is surrounded by the entire Royal Family since she starting dating Prince Harry in June 2016.

And today, her appearance at the Buckingham Palace lunch is another indication of how quickly she has been accepted into the monarchy ahead of the wedding.

The US actrsss looked stunning in a black and white lace Self-Portrait dress and diamond drop earrings. 

The festive lunch will give her an opportunity to meet distant relatives of the Royal Family ahead of her wedding to Harry in Windsor next year. 

Among the first to arrive were the Cambridges, with William opting to drive to the palace with his wife by his side andt their two youngsters riding in the back with nanny Maria Borrallo.
