Sixty-one persons committed suicide in Chhattisgarh between the months of April and November this year, the State Government informed the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.
Revenue Minister Prem Prakash Pandey provided the information in a written reply to a question by Leader of Opposition TS Singhdeo.
"Sixty one persons committed suicide across the State between April 1 and November 30, 2017," the Minister informed. Government denied that any farmer has committed suicide in the state during the period.
A total of 14 persons have committed suicide in Balodabazar district during the period, followed by Kabeerdham (13), Bemetara (9), Rajnandgaon (9) and Durg (4), he informed.
Similarly, three suicides were reported in Dhamtari district, two each in Raipur, Balod, Kanker and Mahasamund while one in Janjgir-Champa, the Minister informed.
