RAJKOT: The Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) has told all open plot owners in the city to register it with the civic body within 30 days to avoid any penalty in future. RMC has identified nearly 3,500 small and medium sized open plots in the municipality area owned by individuals or private firms.

RMC commissioner Bancchanidhi Pani told TOI, "The open plots have become sites for anti-social activities and garbage dumping. They have subsequently become liabilities for the civic authority. Currently, we don't have adequate details of these plots. So, to curb all nefarious activities, we have asked plot owners to get their land registered with us."

There is possibility of illegal construction on open plots which leads to disputes and litigation in future, he added.

Owners of private plots have been asked to register details of their plots with all relevant documents. The notification warned that "those who don't register the details of their plot may face legal action in future when seeking permission for construction or getting the bu ilding use permission."
