O/L student takes poison

A student from Kekuluwela in Aralaganwila of Dimbulagala in Polonnaruwa has consumed poison to end his life after he was unable to answer the GCE (O/L) mathematics paper properly.

The 17-year-old student was in distress after the examination, according to his parents.

The victim was Ishara Janith Chandrasiri. Investigations revealed that he had gone to a nearby paddy filed in his father's three-wheeler and then consumed poison.

Although the relatives took him to a hospital, Chandrasiri died at the hospital.

It was reported that he was a bright student and had been securing first place in the class always at school term tests.
