A study of bus routes as well as last-mile connectivity in order to help the planning of public transport in the Capital will be carried out within six months, the Delhi government announced on Tuesday.
At a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Cabinet on Tuesday approved the study to be conducted by the Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) in six months.

“This study will help strengthen the public transport system to meet the increasing travel demand. The issue of buses, Gramin Sewa and RTVs [mini buses] not working optimally will also be solved after the study is done,” a government statement read.
The study will address the problems of low frequency, inadequate coverage, crowding and other issues related to bus service.

Apart from the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses, the study will cover the cluster buses run by DIMTS, the Gramin Sewa, RTVs and Delhi Metro feeder buses. In addition, the study will “seek to develop criteria for delineation of operation area of electric rickshaws,” the government said.
In order to understand the experiences of commuters, the study will include a household travel survey of 1% of Delhi households as well as workplace surveys in Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gurugram and Bahadurgarh.
