HYDERABAD: The Uttar Pradesh government has held its third road show in Hyderabad to attract investments to ‘UP Investors Summit-2018.’ The new government led by Yogi Adityanath aims to change the people’s perception of UP by attracting investments for setting up industries and businesses in the state to create employment opportunities. It announced a new industrial policy in June and hopes to attract investments exceeding `5 lakh crore and creation of 20 lakh jobs in the coming five years. “Previously, we have not had a good reputation.

There was a disconnect between industries and government which we want to change through this new industrial policy,” said Satish Mahana, minister of industrial development of UP government.

The industrial policies of at least six states, including Telangana, had been studied by Uttar Pradesh officials before drafting one for their state to lure investors in IT, ITES and manufacturing sectors to its maiden investment summit to be held next year, said Sanjiv Saran, additional chief secretary in the department of IT & Electronics of UP government.

The UP government also intends to establish the first incubator with an investment of `1,000 crore for more than 1,000 start-up companies. It also plans to build an airport three times bigger than that the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
