MANATEE COUNTY — A Manatee County judge sentenced Manuel Lebron-Jimenez to 50 years in prison after he was convicted of aggravated battery and violation of probation on Dec. 13.

The sentence was the maximum allowed, according to the State Attorney's Office. The minimum was 15 years.

According to the SAO, Lebron-Jimenez shot the victim in the stomach Aug. 29, 2016 with a .25-caliber gun. He left the scene without helping the victim who obtained assistance and was taken to the hospital.

The victim required extensive abdominal surgery.

The Violent Crimes Task Force of Manatee County Sheriff's Office investigated the incident and it was discovered that bullet casings and the gun used in the crime had Lebron-Jimenez's DNA on it. His case was heard by six jurors.

The trial was held at the Manatee County Courthouse Dec. 11 through 13.
