BHADARWAH: Demanding regularisation, scores of National Health Mission(NHM) employees under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir NHM Employees Association(JKNHMEA) went on strike and held a protest at Additional District Bhadarwah on Wednesday.

The striking employees carrying placards raised slogans against the government for ignoring their demands which include regularisation and equal pay.

“The future of thousands of NHM employees viz doctors, paramedics and management are still hanging in balance despite the fact that they have put numerous years in the service of the Health Department, ” said President, Akhter Mohd.

“Steps must be taken to ensure job security for NHM employees and the practice of taking affidavits annually from them, which is illegal and unjustified, must be stopped at the earliest,” he added.

“Other states have already taken measures to regularise the NHM employees. The government should come clear regarding our regularisation and equal pay,” said Vice President, Arshad Zaffer adding if government does not redress our demands, the NHM employees will go on indefinite strike and responsibility will lie solely on government.

They demanded that those NHM employees who have completed 5 years of service should be regularised and rest of the employees be given equal salary at par with permanent employees in reference to Supreme Court’s verdict i.e. equal pay for equal work till their regularisation.

Those who spoke on the occasion include Akhter Mohd, Arshad Zaffer, Nasir Khateeb, Muneeza Iqbal, Dr Basharat, Dr Amir and Dr Fayaz Malik.
