WEST ALABAMA HEROES: Moore scores 20 points for Southern Union

Here is how athletes from Tuscaloosa-area high schools who are now competing at the collegiate level fared last week:

 

MEN’S BASKETBALL

• Missouri-Kansas City sophomore forward Jordan Giles (Holy Spirit) played against Incarnate Word, scoring 15 points with 5 rebounds and 2 blocked shots.

• Shelton State Community College sophomore Matthew Horton (Paul W. Bryant) started at forward vs. Wallace-Selma, Lurleen B. Wallace and Jones County, averaging 10.7 points, 9 rebounds and 5.7 blocked shots.

• Southern Union sophomore Josh Moore (Demopolis) started at forward vs. West Georgia Technical College and scored 20 points with 10 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.

• Southern Union sophomore Jamesio Rhine (Bibb County) started at forward vs. West Georgia Technical College and scored 7 points with 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocked shots.

• Southern Miss junior Kevin Holland (Paul W. Bryant) started at guard vs. Troy, Alabama A&M and William Carey, averaging 7.3 points and 3.3 rebounds.

• Wallace State-Hanceville freshman Chris Rollins (Hale County) started at forward vs. Birmingham-Southern junior varsity, scoring 6 points with 2 rebounds and 2 blocked shots.

• West Alabama junior forward Charles Tripp (Demopolis) played against Lane College, scoring 2 points with 2 rebounds.

 

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

• Shelton State freshman center Alesia Bonner (Hillcrest) had 2 rebounds vs. Wallace-Selma CC.

• Shelton State sophomore Savannah Reier (Northridge) started at guard vs. Wallace-Selma, Lurleen B. Wallace CC and Jones County CC, averaging 19 points and 2 assists.

• Wallace -Hanceville freshman forward DeMaurea Moore (Hillcrest) played against Columbia State, scoring 8 points and 3 rebounds.

• Wallace-Selma freshman forward Brianna Henderson (Paul W. Bryant) played vs. Shelton State and Meridian, averaging 2 points.

• Wallace-Selma freshman guard Keona May (Sumter Central) played vs. Meridian, scoring 3 points with 3 assists.
