The tournament marks a slight change from recent years.

The 2017/18 series will see an increase of 35 fixtures to 43 which will be crammed in to 47 days, with the final on February 4 2018.

Already into its seventh year, the Big Bash is getting bigger and bigger.

Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers will kick off the competition at 8.30 GMT.

Among the players to watch will be Thunders’ Shane Watson, who has also taken the IPL and other Twenty20 tournaments by storm.

Melbourne Renegades’ Aaron Finch is also a big hitter and he should thrive.

We just need to make sure that we don't race too fast

Kim McConnie

Despite the competition’s success so far, Big Bash head Kim McConnie is eager to make sure things don’t move too quickly too soon.

She said: “We just need to make sure that we don't race too fast.

“But I think at some point in our future, you could probably see another team being added."
