PUNE: Three persons, including two minors, bludgeoned a carpenter to death on the night intervening December 7 and 8 as he resisted them from robbing him for buying a bottle of liquor.
Anil Vishwakarma's body, was found on an open plot near a company in Chinchwad. It was partially savaged by animals.

Kharage said the police immediately checked the missing persons' complaints across the city. The descriptions in a complaint registered with the Wakad police on December 7 matched with the body found in Chinchwad.
"We summoned Vishwakarma's wife, to ascertain the identity of the body. She identified the 37-year-old," he said.
During the probe, constable Sandip Patil received a tip-off about criminal Avinash Popat
Nalawade's involvement in the murder. "He was in
Nare village near Bhor," Kharage said.
A Nigdi police team led by senior inspector Vijaykumar Palsule arrested him and detained one of the two minors on Monday. During interrogation, Nalawade (25) revealed he and his minor accomplices needed money for liquor so they tried to rob the carpenter.
"Vishwakarma was carrying money for paying the labourers working with him. When he resisted them, the trio bludgeoned him to death and robbed the money," Kharage said.
Police said on the nightof the incident,Vishwakarma was going towards Akurdi on a scooter with two flour mill workers. "We summoned his companions — Vinod
Kumar and Akhilesh Gautam — for questioning. They revealed the entire incident," Kharage said.
According to them, they stopped to relieve themselves near the company in Chinchwad around 9pm. "Three men surfaced all of a sudden, picked up stones and threatened us," Kharage said.
Vishwakarma and his aides started running. But the trio nabbed Vishwakarma and hit him with stones. "When Kumar and Gautam tried to help him, the suspects attacked them too. They ran to the main road to seek help from pedestrians, but in vain. They waited for Vishwakarma for some time and left the spot. They did not approach the police as they were new in Pune," Kharage said.
