Small businesses to get help with late payments from official commissioner

SMALL businesses can get support in dealing with overdue invoices from the service established by the UK Government to help address concern about a perceived late payment culture.

The Small Business Commissioner can handle complaints from firms about unfair payment practices. The commissioner’s website can provide guidance on payment issues including how to take action if money is overdue.

The Federation of Small Businesses said over 30 per cent of payments to minnows are late. Former Conservative MP Paul Uppal was appointed Small Business Commissioner in October.
