Wednesday's transfer talk

Manchester United have been linked with a British transfer record £90m move for Chelsea's Eden Hazard

Newcastle are interested in taking Chelsea outcast David Luiz on loan in January

Atletico Madrid are set to report Barcelona to Fifa over their approach for Antoine Griezmann

Everton want to sign Arsenal's Theo Walcott and Sevilla's Steven N'Zonzi next month

The rumour mill is cranking up to fever pitch and that can mean only one thing - the January transfer window is now just a matter of weeks away.

Runaway league leaders Manchester City were the summer's biggest spenders splashing over £200m on new arrivals but Pep Guardiola isn't likely to stop there with a title there for the taking. A centre back is his target of choice with Virgil van Dijk and Inigo Martinez emerging as options next month.

Crosstown rivals United were busy too and will want more despite adding Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof in the summer with Jose Mourinho keen on an attacking wide player and a new full back. Don't rule out a move for Arsenal's Mesut Ozil while Chelsea's Eden Hazard has also been linked.

Liverpool struggled to get deals over the line and could still lose Coutinho while Chelsea are still in need of bodies as Antonio Conte continues to battle with a hectic fixture list.

We will have all the latest news for you right here so don't touch that dial.

Live Updates

Jack Wilshere is no nearer to signing a new contract despite making his long-awaited return to Arsenal's Premier League starting line-up in last Wednesday's draw at West Ham.

England international Wilshere, who spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, has seemingly overcome a torrid run of injuries. He is due to be out of contract at the end of the campaign, with manager Wenger insisting on several occasions that talks over a new deal would take place this month.

But Wilshere has still yet to hear anything from his manager and in the short term he hopes to retain his place for Saturday's visit of struggling Newcastle.

Brighton have renewed their interest in striker Ze Luis, according to the Sun.

The Seagulls have already bid £5million for the Cape Verde international and will make a second move, the paper said.

David Luiz's future makes the papers for a third day in a row as the Shields Gazette reports Newcastle want to take the 30-year-old on loan from Chelsea.

Earlier this week, the Daily Express said that Arsenal are considering making a move for the defender while the Daily Mail said Real Madrid and Juventus are looking at making an offer.

Crystal Palace will not contemplate the sale of star man Wilfried Zaha at any price.

The Ivorian international is seen as more than just any old player by the club that he joined as a 12-year-old boy. He is considered the face of the Eagles, who are keen to emphasise the winger's south London roots and recently signed him to a huge contract extension.

Zaha is now one of the top earners at Palace and tied down until 2022 after committing the prime years of his career to the Selhurst Park club.

Olivier Giroud is open to moves away from Arsenal in the new year, according to his agent, but will not force his way out of the club.

Last week’s game against West Ham was the first the Frenchman had started all season as he looks to ensure himself of more minutes on the pitch ahead of next summer’s Russia World Cup.

He has mainly been used as an impact substitute by Arsene Wenger so far this season despite starting for France but if he is continued to use so sparingly by the Gunners then he risks missing out next summer altogether.

Kevin De Bruyne is close to agreeing a lucrative new Manchester City contract, with the club now confident of finalising a deal before Christmas, fortifying his status as a key player in their future.

While a few remaining issues still have to be sorted out, such as details relating to image rights and the exact time scale (although it is expected to be between four and six years), both sides are naturally eager to get it done.

City also want it sorted before the World Cup, especially as the 26-year-old’s burgeoning reputation grows amid a brilliant season. It would strengthen their stance that he is not for sale at any price, regardless of any interest or offer from Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Alexis Sanchez has “clocked off” at Arsenal as a result of uncertainty surrounding his future at the club, says Ian Wright.

The Chilean’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season and it’s expected he won’t be renewing it at the close of the current campaign.

Sanchez was close to joining Manchester City in the summer and continues to be linked to the side this season.

Atletico Madrid are preparing to present an official complaint to Fifa over Barcelona's pursuit of French forward Antoine Griezmann.

The Rojiblancos are understood be angered by Barca's increasingly public pursuit of their star striker, with a director of the Catalan club recently admitting there had been contact with the player who is still under contract to the Madrid side.

"If Bartomeu met with Griezmann's family as the newspapers say, then there may well have been an approach," Guillermo Amor admitted. "Though, I don't know anything for sure.

Jose Mourinho is set to hand Henrikh Mkhitaryan a lifeline by returning him to his Manchester United side for the Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with Bristol City.

The Armenian has fallen out of favour under the Portuguese, having struggled to apply his game under the manager's approach, with United now willing to cash in in January and former club Borussia Dortmund emerging as his likeliest destination.

But Mourinho is set to give him a chance to impress at Ashton Gate on Wednesday evening with the midfielder having not started a game since November 5.

Let's take a look around today's papers, shall we?

Manchester United are plotting a £90million move for Chelsea star Eden Hazard, according to the Sun. It has been reported in Spain the Belgian international was in "advanced negitiations" with Real Madrid, but Jose Mourinho is keen on bringing the 26-year-old to Old Trafford.

Olivier Giroud could well be on his way out of the Emirates, according to the Daily Mirror. The centre-forward wants more game time as he bids to make the World Cup in Russia and his agent has reportedly said he will consider his future next month as the transfer window opens.

Another player reported to be leaving Arsenal is Theo Walcott, with new Everton boss Sam Allardyce looking to hand the striker a fresh start at Goodison Park, reports the Mirror. Steven N'Zonzi is also on Allardyce's shopping list, but will have to fend off interest from Arsenal and West Ham, the paper says.
