The BJP here is upbeat with the election results in Gujarat and HP.
“It happened as per expectation. There is nothing to get astonished over the election results since victory was evident for us,” commented district BJP president Ramachandra Meher. “Those who did not believe in exit poll predictions and pooh-poohed
them need to introspect now,” suggested Meher. He further said that it was only PM Narendra Modi as leader and the BJP as a political party who can fulfill the expectations of the people of the country and three years of his leadership has proved it.
However, opposition Congress is not prepared to agree to it even after the defeat. “We were aware of the results of Himachal Pradesh basing on our past experience. But results of Gujarat disheartened us,” said Asaf Ali Khan, a senior leader of Congress. “But for the first time in the election history of the country, did a PM address 34 election meetings in a State which is his home State also,” Khan said.
“Ambition 150 couldn’t even touch triple digit. One Prime Minister, balmost all the Cabinet Ministers, six CMs on one side and only Rahul Gandhi on the other shows the capability of the BJP vis-a-visCongress. In Gujarat the BJP had to be satisfied with 99 only,” Khan said. “Further, the BJP should remember that in spite of getting the victory they have come down in number game where as we have gone up and the difference between them and us is not so high,” Khan added.
