Country Joe McDonald, the Navy vet who galvanized the ’60s protest movement with his antiwar anthem “I-Feel-Like-I’m-Fixin’-to-Die Rag” (which he sang to half a million mud-splattered hippies at Woodstock), is on a mini-tour performing what he says will be his final live dates in the Bay Area.
Now 75, the Berkley singer-songwriter is ready to walk away from the stage just as the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love comes to a close. Catch McDonald while you can, as he and his band perform Country Joe & the Fish’s 1967 psychedelic classic “Electric Music for the Mind and Body” in its entirety at Freight & Salvage in Berkeley on Thursday, Dec. 21; and Friday, Dec. 22, at The Chapel in San Francisco.
