Train derails in Washington during inaugural run leaving at least 3 dead
The inaugural service of a passenger train on a newly opened Amtrak route turned fatal when it derailed resulting in the death of at least three people on Monday.

On its inaugural trip from Seattle to Portland, all 12 of the train's coaches and one of its two engines derailed from the track. While two passenger coaches fell partly on the busy highway, two other coaches were left dangling off the bridge. While three people are reported to have lost their lives, about a hundred others have been injured.

The train was passing through a crossing when the accident took place resulting in cars being damaged on the highway beneath. The train was reportedly carrying around 80 passengers when the accident took place. The injured were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals for medical care and many of them are reported to be in a critical condition.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is yet to confirm what could have caused the accident and has sent a team of 20 investigators to the accident spot to gather initial evidence.

Reports have suggested that speed could have been the reason behind the accident as the train was travelling at a speed of in excess of 80 miles per hour when the accident occurred while the speed at such a time should have been around 30 miles per hour as the train was nearing a curve.

President of the United States (POTUS) Donald Trump took to Twitter to give his first reaction over the accident, expressing that the country needed to increase spending on infrastructure.
