The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is yet to confirm what could have caused the accident and has sent a team of 20 investigators to the accident spot to gather initial evidence.
Reports have suggested that speed could have been the reason behind the accident as the train was travelling at a speed of in excess of 80 miles per hour when the accident occurred while the speed at such a time should have been around 30 miles per hour as the train was nearing a curve.
President of the United States (POTUS) Donald Trump took to Twitter to give his first reaction over the accident, expressing that the country needed to increase spending on infrastructure.
The train accident that just occurred in DuPont, WA shows more than ever why our soon to be submitted infrastructure plan must be approved quickly. Seven trillion dollars spent in the Middle East while our roads, bridges, tunnels, railways (and more) crumble! Not for long!
