Postdoctoral Research Fellow : Ann Arbor, MI, United States

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Benjamin Segal at the University of Michigan. The ultimate goal of our laboratory is to elucidate the molecular and cellular pathways that underlie inflammation driven damage, as well as repair, in the central nervous system (CNS) during multiple sclerosis (MS) and other neuroimmunological disorders. Topics currently under investigation include: (1) the mechanisms by which autoreactive Th1 and Th17 cells and myeloid cells mediate damage in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), an animal model of MS; (2) the role of inflammation in promoting remyelination and axonal regeneration in EAE and models of CNS traumatic injury, and (3) identification of chemokines as biomarkers of CNS tissue damage in progressive forms of MS. The breadth of our research, which spans animal and human studies, provides unique opportunities to draw connections between discoveries made at the bench and in the clinic….
