It seems like everyone wants to buy the Panthers after Jerry Richardson announced he would be selling the team.

Diddy was the first to express his interest. Colin Kaepernick hopped on the bandwagon. Joe Thomas threw his name into the hat, as well. Mark Cuban, a man with the means to actually buy the team, was asked about his interest in owning the Panthers and he used it as another opportunity to take a shot at the NFL

Via The Dallas Morning News:

"Not interested at all in any NFL franchise … Why would I buy an NFL team if I think the league is in decline?"

"There's no team I would want other than the Mavericks, certainly no football team in the universe. There's not even a close second.

"I love the Mavs. I love Dallas. I mean, Charlotte's a great city, but there's nothing I don't like here - other than losing right now. I would never turn my back on the city of Dallas.

"Like I've always said, Dallas has given me so much. And what am I going to say to my son and his friends or my daughter and her friends: 'Oh, yeah: Football's dangerous for you, but I bought a football team.

"I know I'm a hypocrite from time to time, but I really, really, really try not to be."

Cuban's stance makes sense. Based on TV ratings and attendance, the NFL does seem to be in decline, but the league continues to rake in money anyway. The NBA is clearly on the rise but has a long way to go before its popularity and money-making potential reaches NFL levels.

But as Cuban mentions, he's been talking about the downfall of the NFL for a while now, so jumping ship could be seen as a hypocritical move and, from his point of view, an immoral one because he'd be profiting off a sport he has deemed too dangerous for his kids.

So, sorry Panthers fans, you can cross Cuban off the list of potential owners. Diddy seems to still be interested, though.
