Laid off employees protest against manufacturing unit

GREATER NOIDA: Around 2,000 employees of a manufacturing unit of a digital data storage devices protested outside the company office in Site B of Surajpur area on Monday.
The employees alleged, they were laid off after being told the company could not support them. They also alleged of not receiving any wages since four-five months.


Since 11.30am, the protestors gathered and blocked the traffic for almost four hours on the Surajpur-Kasna road.


"We were given off by on November 2 and 3. But, when we arrived on November 4, we found it locked. Upon contacting the management, we were told the company's plant is being shut and our dues will be paid, but nothing as such happened," said Rakesh Kumar, one of the protestors.


Then senior police officers arrived and tried to convince the protesters to leave, after which the jam was opened around 3.30 pm.


Circle Officer, Greater Noida 1, Amit Srivastava said, they have called a meeting on December 21 where representatives of both sides will meet and discuss the matter.
