Market Now: BSE Smallcap index outperforms benchmark Sensex
The BSE Smallcap index hit a fresh record high of 18,476 in Tuesday's trade.
NEW DELHI: The BSE Smallcap index was outperforming benchmark Sensex in afternoon trade on Tuesday.

The S&P BSE Smallcap index was trading 206 points up at 18,459, while Sensex was 86 points up at 33,688 around 1.10 pm (IST). The NSE Nifty50 index was 29 points up at 10,417.

Notably, the BSE Smallcap index hit a fresh record high of 18,476 in Tuesday's trade.

Shares of NACL Industries (up 20 per cent), Kridhan Infra (up 17.06 per cent), Indo Rama Synthetics (India) (up 16.71 per cent), Intense Technologies (up 14.47 per cent), Godawari Power & Ispat (up 14.20 per cent), Bharat Wire Ropes (up 13.87 per cent), Sarla Performance Fibers (up 12.90 per cent) and VIP Clothing (up 12.04 per cent) surged over 12 per cent in the BSE Smallcap index.

On the other hand, Ricoh India (down 4.99 per cent), Steel Exchange India (down 4.93 per cent), Bombay Rayon Fashions (down 4.57 per cent) and Monnet Ispat & Energy (down 3.29 per cent) declined over 3 per cent in the smallcap index.

Hero MotoCorp, Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj Auto, ICICI Bank and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation were the top gainers in the Sensex index.

Infosys, Wipro, Kotak Mahindra Bank, IndusInd Bank and YES Bank were among the laggards of the Sensex kitty.
