Minorities have special rights: CM

The minorities have also been provided special rights under the constitution of India, said the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat. He was speaking at a programme  held on the eve of world minorities’ rights day at the PT seminary auditorium here on Monday.

Rawat said that there are very few nations in the world which follow a constitution which provides such rights to the minority communities. Appreciating Indian culture, he said that here people of all communities live in harmony and contribute with a sense of mutual cooperation towards national development. Regarding U’khand, the CM said that members of the minority communities are making important contribution to the development of the State. He stressed that it is important to also be conscious about ones duties along with the rights. Rawat also feted women from the minority communities for commendable work int he social and Government sectors on the occasion. Sr journalist and author Jaskiran Chopra delivered the keynote address. The State minorities commission chairman NS Bindra, vice chairman P Satish John, State women's commission chairperson Sarojini Kaintura and others were also present on the occasion.
