CEB unions threaten to strike

The Joint Trade Union Alliance of Ceylon Electricity Board has decided to launch an island-wide strike.

When contacted, the convener of the JTUA Ranjan Jayalal said the union representatives took this decision during a meeting yesterday (18).

He said that they would decide the date of the strike tomorrow (20).

A group of CEB workers is meanwhile continuing their fast against the reduction of bonus for staff, for the 9th day today (19).
