The laboratory of Stem Cell Biology and Pharmacology of Neurodegenerative Diseases (Dept. Of Biosciences at University of Milan, www.cattaneolab.it) studies the neurobiology of Huntington’s Disease.
Open positions: the laboratory is looking for pre-doctoral and post-doctoral researchers. Background in stem cell biology and/or developmental neurobiology is required to work on two projects whose aim is to study neuronal development in Huntington’s Disease (HD).
The first project focuses on the differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells into medium spiny neurons (MSNs) and their development, in order to investigate their potential therapeutic use in cell replacement therapies.
The second project focuses on the development and implementation of genome editing approaches on mouse embryonic stem cells to screen for genes influencing the HD phenotype. Expertise in molecular biology is required.
Suitable applicants will possess a degree in molecular biology, cell biology, developmental biology, neurobiology or other relevant areas.
Additionally, the applicant(s) need to have experience in (stem) cell biology. Knowledge of basic molecular biology and fluorescence microscopy techniques are considered a valuable asset.
The candidate(s) should be highly motivated, communicative and inventive. He or she will have good interpersonal and organisational skills, being able to actively interact with colleagues but also capable of working in an independent manner.
The salary offered will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
The laboratory is centrally located in Milano.
