Jalandhar: The results in the municipal elections are the best answer to state BJP president Vijay Sampla who had posed 10 questions to the Congress government about its promises made before coming to power, said Congress state unit vice-president Himanshu Pathak in Jalandhar on Monday.
Pathak, who is also the spokesperson of Punjab Congress, said people of the state had given answer to all of Sampla's questions. "His last-minute gimmick did not work even in his hometown Jalandhar where the BJP-SAD lost very badly after running the MC for the last 10 years. Even the couple of candidates personally backed by him in Jalandhar lost very badly," he said.
Ridiculing SAD-BJP's demand for repolling in Jalandhar, he said it was more a cover-up to escape the embarrassing defeat in state BJP president's hometown as polling in the city was peaceful and even the leaders of the alliance did not lodge any complaint.
"Sampla is trying to insult the choice of the people instead of accepting the verdict of the people," he said.
Meanwhile, responding to SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal's allegations against Punjab government of rigging the election, Pathak asked the former to ask people on why did the alliance lost so badly in Punjab assembly election. "You remain as unpopular as you were in February 2017. Just introspect," he added.
