Heather North dead at 71: Scooby-Doo actress who voiced Daphne

HEATHER North, who was best known as the voice of Daphne in Scooby-Doo, has died at the age of 71 after suffering from a long illness.

The actress voiced the iconic character for 33 years - she reportedly died in her home in Los Angeles.

In addition to her work on Scooby-Doo, Heather North also featured in Days of Our Lives, The Fugitive TV series and The Barefoot Executive, the latter of which starred Kurt Russell.

Heather North first voiced Daphne in September 1970 for the second season of the hugely-popular show - the first season saw the character played by Stefanianna Christopherson.

The actress also played the ginger-haired mystery solver in The New Scooby-Doo Movies in 1972 to 1973.

Keith Chegwin has died aged 60 following ‘long battle with lung condition’

The star’s husband, H.Westley Kenney, an Emmy Award-winning producer, died in 2015.

The couple met on the set of Days of Our Lives and got married in 1971.

The actress is survived by her son Kevin and daughter-in-law Stephanie.

A memorial service for the Scooby-Doo star will take place tomorrow at the First Christian Church in Studio City, LA.
