Pune: Water supply across many areas in the city will be cut off on Thursday to facilitate pipeline work and installation of water flow meters at pumping stations.
Officials of the water supply department said that the civic administration has come up with a new pumping facility at Parvati waterworks. While the facility is ready, there is a plan to connect a water pipeline coming from Khadakwasla dam to the pumping station. The work is scheduled on Thursday.
Besides the pipeline work, PMC will carry out installation of water flow meter at the Holkar pumping station, maintenance works at Vadgaon waterworks, Pune Cantonment waterworks and SNDT/Warje waterworks.
The works are expected to begin early on Thursday and will be completed by night. The department has said that water supply will resume late on Friday morning at low pressure.
"The infrastructural maintenance planned on Thursday is crucial. We have deployed teams at all pumping stations and waterworks", a PMC official said.
According to the civic administration, water supply in all Peth areas, Deccan Gymkahana, Satara Road, Law College Road, Kothrud and Paravati will remain closed on Thursday. All these areas are served by Parvati waterworks.
