Motaung thrilled with Castro arrival

2017-12-19 20:34

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung believes the club's latest signing Leonardo Castro will be an invaluable addition to the Premiership title chasers.

Amakhosi are currently in second place in the league at the mid-season break, six points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns but have struggled for goals - netting 13 times in 15 fixtures.

With four goalless draws and three 1-1 stalemates, and Gustavo Paez being their top scorer with three goals, a quality marksman has been high on the agenda for Chiefs - and they've since landed their top target from their domestic rivals.

Castro netted 15 goals in all competitions in his debut campaign for the Brazilians but has struggled for form over the past 12 months due to injuries and off-field issues.

His all-around ability as a deep-lying forward will certainly help the attack-minded midfielders at Naturena thrive in more advanced positions - which Motaung eluded to at his unveiling.

"It is not a secret that we have been in the market for a striker and are delighted that we have found a player of Castro's quality," Motaung told the club's official website.

"He will certainly add more firepower to the talent we have in our striking department."
