Sundowns won't run away with title - Celtic boss

Cape Town - Bloemfontein Celtic head coach Lehlohonolo Seema feels Mamelodi Sundowns won't run away with the Absa Premiership title despite being on the wrong end of a 4-1 result on Saturday.

Masandawana are currently six points ahead of second placed Kaizer Chiefs, with two games in hand after the victory at the Loftus Versfeld, where a flurry of second half goals provided those who turned out some real entertainment value.

After a goalless first half, forward Thokozani Sekotlong and midfielder Tiyani Mabunda both scored swiftly after the half-time break.

Defender Ronald Pfumbidzai managed to pull one back for the visitors on the hour mark but influential attackers Percy Tau and Themba Zwane put the result beyond doubt with impressive strikes in the 75th minute and 88th minutes, respectively.

The defeat left Siwelele in seventh place. However, they too hold two games in hand over several of their rivals.

"I don’t think so‚ they ran away with the game against us but as for the league, it is still early to say that‚" Seema, who assumed the role as head coach in Veselin Jelusic's absence, told reporters.

"I don’t think they are running away with the league. People are saying this league is poor but I don’t think so because I believe it is competitive and that is why it is too early to say Sundowns are running away with it.

"They are a good team, but it is not like they dominate teams completely for 90 minutes. If other teams use their opportunities and concentrate properly it will be a different story," he added.

"I think you guys are in for a nice finish to the season."

Jelusic is set to return before the resumption of the Absa Premiership in the new year, after heading to Serbia to renew his UEFA A Licence.
