The Allahabad high court on Monday issued notice to Baba Ramdev on a contempt petition, which showed him as director of Patanjali Ayurved Ltd, for his alleged disobedience of an order of the high court related to allotment of land to him and Patanjali for setting up a Food Plaza in Noida.
The high court also issued notices to Gautam Budh Nagar (Noida) district magistrate BN Singh and chief executive officer of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority Arun Veer Singh for non- compliance of court’s order, directing parties to maintain status quo in the Food Plaza case. Justice AK Mishra passed the above order while hearing a contempt petition filed by one Sohan, a farmer of Kadarpur village in Gautam Budh Nagar,
The petitioner alleged that despite court order dated April 26, 2013, by which the court had directed the parties to maintain status quo on the disputed land, the opposite parties Baba Ramdev and others had disobeyed the order by fencing the boundary. The allegation of the petitioner was that this act of the respondents is a clear case of disobedience of the court’s order, therefore, it amounted to contempt.
As per the facts of the case, the land in dispute was acquired by the state in favour of the Yamuna Expressway which was later allotted to Patanjali Ayurved Ltd to establish a Food Plaza.
