Lab Manager

This position is available immediately and comes with an initial contract of two years.

We are an international lab conducting basic neuroscientific research with mice.

We look for a lab manager to support lab members in all questions relating to animal protection regulation, participate in the management of funding and help instruct new members of the lab. Beyond that, diverse tasks are possible depending on qualifications and interests. Therefore, we look for an interactive and energetic person who could help to manage different aspects of the lab as well as bring in own ideas to develop the lab’s agenda.

Responsibilities will include:
• Coordination of animal ethics permits and notifications
• Control of the implementation and where possible independent implementation of the requirements made by animal protection laws
• Support with grant applications and coordination with the finance department of the MDC
• Safety-related responsibilities (laser, work, potentially genetic safety)
• Further responsibilities are possible given the candidate’s interest and availability: e.g. co-authoring publications, support with programming, database management

The workplace is on the Mitte campus of the Charité, a later move to the MDC campus in Berlin-Buch is possible. We offer flexible work hours which may be possible to increase in the future.

Successful candidates should have:
• Masters or PhD in a life science or related area, ideally with a focus on neuroscience
• Independent and responsible working style with a high degree of responsibility and organization skills
• Friendly, helpful and collaborative manner
• Very good English and fluent German in speaking and writing
• Experience with lab management and/or tasks-relevant areas (grant applications and management, copy-editing, genetic safety, communication with regulatory bodies) is an advantage
