On the occasion, Parrikar said that online filing of FIRs can be introduced only after correcting a "wrong notion" about FIRs.
"The concept of FIR will have to be brought properly to the notice of people. People think that a person against whom an FIR is registered is a criminal..It need not be. FIR is just an first information report," he said.
He said if a wrong notion about FIR is not corrected, then anybody will file the FIR online.
"...Otherwise any Tom, Dick or Harry will lodge an FIR," the chief minister said, adding that if online filing of complaint is allowed it should be named something else and not as an FIR.
