My take: Congress reliance on Gujarat's young trio a double-edged sword

India Today Television | December 19, 2017

The Congress's experiment with outsourcing its Gujarat campaign to three young caste leaders has proven to be a double-edged sword.

While it expanded the Congress's social base and gave its campaign an energetic thrust, it also alienated more traditional voting groups who feared a caste divide.

The trio was able to challenge the Modi model because of their fresh-faced image, but could not bring down a BJP edifice built over decades.
