Sivakarthikeyan’s Velaikkaran theatrical rights is on par with Surya’s Thaana Serndha Kootam theatrical rights

One of the most talked about films of 2017 is SivaKarthikeyan‘s Velaikkaran. The star is returning to the big screen after Remo, one of the biggest hits of 2016. It’s no wonder the buzz around this film is huge. Karthikeyan is stepping into a new character after playing a fun loving nurse, last. He is also pairing up with Nayanthara and starring opposite Fahadh Fasil for the first time. After Remo’s success,  Sivakarthikeyan had entered a new league. He was no longer the comedian turned actor but was now proclaimed the commercially viable promising star. So much so, his value has fetched Velaikkaran a decent price for its theatrical rights. A source close to Bollywoodlife EXCLUSIVELY revealed – Velaikkaran Tamil Nadu theatrical rights have been sold for Rs 38.32 crores to individual distributors! As of now it’s more than Suriya‘s Thaana Serndha Kootam theatrical rights cost – Rs Rs 36.5 crore. But individual areas in TN are yet to be calculated for Thaana Serndha Kootam . Even then the total might stand at Rs 38 – 40 crore. Also Read: Sivakarthikeyan’s Velaikkaran creates a new record, motion poster clocks in 1M views

While Suriya’s film might end up with a collectively bigger theatrical price, the fact that Siva Karthikeyan, an up and coming actor is on par with Suriya says a lot! If Velaikkaran fares well at the box office we won’t be surprised if Siva Karthikeyan goes on to become the most sought after actor in Kollywood. While this bodes well for Siva Karthikeyan, it also brings to attention that Suriya’s upcoming release is very important for the actor. After Singham 3’s disastrous success, Thaana Serndha Kootam’s needs to fare well at the box office for Suriya to bounce back in the market.

Velaikkaran is set to release on December 22. Akhil Akkineni’s Hello will also release on the same day. As for Thaana Serndha Kootam , it’s set to release in Pongal 2018.
