Diphu , Dec. 19(EMN): Agitated employees of Diphu Town Committee (DTC) once again vandalised the DTC office demanding their salary which has been pending for more than 5 years.

The employees have been strike since last week leaving Diphu town, particularly the markets piled up with garbage. Office furniture was seen strewn in the compound of the DTC office today. This is the third agitation by the DTC employees this year.

The employees are particularly agitated as it is the festive season with Christmas just few days away and New Year’s eve approaching. The agitating employees are not willing to resume their duties until the pending salary is paid to the them.

On Dec. 18, the District Press Club of Karbi Anglong and other social organisations had organised a cleanliness drives but just after a day of cleanliness the scene is just like as before- floating plastics, waste papers and other a refuse strewn all around the main road in Diphu.

According to sources, till the filling up this report, there was no discussion initiated by the authority on the present issue in the town committee.
